Dass sich die Erdrotation seit dem frühen Mittelalter verlangsamt hätte (aus welchen Gründen auch immer) ist eine ad-hoc Annahme von Richard Stephenson, um das Paradigma der traditionellen Chronologie mit dem Sonnenfinsternisbericht des Theon von Alexandria kompatibel zu machen.
